From first glance, the dress looks black but is a variety of thin panels of fabrics: plum lace, ruched black satin, wine-colored trimming, black chenille, and scalloped ribbonwork. Under the sheer lace layer is a sheer black acetate chiffon and, finally, a nude-toned underlayer.
